Not the password we want, but the password we need
November 5, 2020What is public DNS, what does it do, why is it so important?
November 19, 2020People ask me all the time… how is working with IT boys?
How is working in a male-dominated firm? And not any kind of firm, but an actual IT company!
How is the feeling of being surrounded all the time by boys, guys, men…?
First of all – as you probably already know- boys will be boys!
Now, put all jokes aside… it’s time to share some lifetime experience.
In my everyday reality, I spend my working hours hanging with the boys!
The Creative People team, now that we speak, consists of twelve people in total.
In other words, in the team you will meet eleven boys and…me!
People say that I am the lady of the company.
Some can say “so what?”.
You may think that it’s as simple as it sounds.
Well… some other people just say “What??”.
Before you jump into rushed conclusions, think about all the differences that sexes have.
All the distances that you sometimes have to go through to find an understanding, in the way of thinking, of acting or… of talking!
Oh all the talking!…
Most of you have experienced massive differences in your own relationships.
Bad words, misunderstood behaviors, or just simple differences in a matter of taste!
The most easy way to go, is by judging.
People find it easy to judge others. For looks, for expressions, for eating habits.
Me? In this manly world, where I work , I am not being judged for being the only female version in the team.
Ok, let’s face facts (between you and I), the only thing that I have to admit is that sometimes they make some comments -in a kind tone!- about food.
Why? They say I eat too much!
Actually, probably because I eat like a guy!
What I think is that they see me handling all those portions of food and they are feeling intimidated. Or maybe I finally face a very good chance to express the masculine side of my personality!
Inside of Creative People you will find no differences.
Of course we are 100% different personalities, but the important thing to see is the result.
The result is that we may are totally different, but we click as a family.
Every single day we work as colleagues, and we try to bring out the best of ourselves and the best of the team.
I may be the only one here. I may be totally different because I am a woman, and I am the only one.
The thing is, what is the best that you get out of people?
What is the best thing that you get out of collaborating with the IT specialists?
And above all, what is the best thing that you can get out of a family full of IT boys?
“Different is beautiful!”
…and that’s exactly what I see and what I am experiencing during the day.
So, I am saying that if you have the chance to be somewhere where you can find ‘difference’, you have to embrace it!
There is a treasure hiding somewhere and the only chance you have is to let it make you better.
Open your eyes, your ears and your mind and accept all the elements -or the ‘data’ as we say in the IT language- that can help you improve yourself!
So… that’s how is working with the IT boys.
Using all the differences we have to become better…people, family, team and Creative People!
